A data acquisition and recording system has been developed in conjunction with many tube and pipe manufacturers to strengthen and add to their quality control systems and management of the production systems.
The main functions of the data acquisition and recording system are: -
1. Online real time monitoring of the tube mill’s operating condition.
2. The storing and recalling of the tube mill’s operating history on a second by second basis.
3. The data can be collected from all PLC and electronic devices using a wide variety of interfaces.
4. The interactive display unit’s software allows easy modification to the displayed data.
a. This allows easy access to information for trouble shooting problems.
b. Displays the operating conditions when faulty tubing is produced and enable remedied to be developed to eliminate these conditions.
c. Displays the operating conditions when good tubing is produced so that they can recorded and used when that product is run the next time. Therefore, reducing set up time and reject rates.
d. For production management it can display uptime, speed and production rates and reject rates plus many other production statistics.
5. The display is available to the mill operators on the machine and also remotely in management offices and on any compatible computer connected to the internet if required. Full protection to the data is provided by encryption and password control. Each display unit has full control of the information displayed.

This software has been developed by Kusakabe specifically for the tube and pipe industry and several patents have applied for and are pending.
