The roll positions for the forming and sizing sections can be fully automated. This is achieved using either hydraulic or servo motor drives with encoder feed back. Setting are controlled from a data base which holds all the settings for all the diameters.

Suitable for large pipe mills where manual setting is almost impractical and repeatability of set up is critical for product quality.

The settings are the same for each production run and not prone to operator error. It is faster than manual settings and reduces the labour input at change over times. Difficult manual operations eliminated.
